United Way of Johnson & Washington Counties unites in purpose to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our community. We support 28 partner agencies through funding, resources provision, and a collaborative approach to solving complex, community-wide issues. We connect volunteers and donors to the causes that matter most throughout our twenty-city region. UWJWC is the safety net for our service-providing agencies and responds when disaster strikes our most vulnerable populations.

Building on our knowledge, credibility, and long-standing leadership, United Way of Johnson & Washington Counties brings people and resources together to create lasting change. Our work is guided by four key impact areas—Youth Opportunity, Financial Security, Healthy Community, and Community Resiliency—which reflect the most pressing needs in our region.
Through ongoing community-wide needs assessments, data analysis, and collaboration with local partners, we identify gaps, set shared goals, and invest in solutions that make a measurable difference. Together, we are working to ensure that:
- Young people have the support and opportunities they need to succeed
- Everyone has access to the care and resources needed to live healthy lives
- Individuals and families achieve financial stability and long-term security
- Our community is prepared to respond to challenges and thrive in times of change
We know complex challenges can’t be solved by any one organization alone.
That’s why United Way serves as both a convener and catalyst—bringing together nonprofits, businesses, government, and community members to align efforts and drive collective impact. Through our community needs assessments and shared goal-setting process, we help ensure that strategies are data-informed, coordinated, and focused on lasting results.
